SmartDesk is the brand of our line of standing desk workstations. The SmartDesk Connect (SDC) is the second generation of SmartDesk. It’s available in two options, the DisplayLink® based SmartDesk Connect D and eGPU based SmartDesk Connect E. Both options are available for purchase here.

The SDC differs from the first generation SmartDesk in that it doesn't incorporate a built-in PC and is instead powered by a user's laptop. With the SmartDesk Connect, you can plug in your laptop for multiple monitor setup and the benefits of a desktop. Or you can unplug your laptop and easily carry your work with you, allowing the freedom and flexibility that few desks offer.
The SmartDesk Connect costs $2299 and includes complimentary curbside delivery and one (1) year warranty. Additional shipping options and (2) year warranty are available at an additional charge.
If you are not satisfied with your SmartDesk, you can return it within 30 days upon receipt. This guarantee doesn't cover ordinary wear and tear or damage caused by improper use or accidents subject to the terms of our limited warranty.

Because of the size and weight of the SmartDesk, we do not offer a refund for any shipping charges you may have paid to receive your SmartDesk. Returns will be charged an additional return shipping fee of $250 or more, depending on your location.

If your SmartDesk is returned in damaged condition or with missing parts, you may be charged an additional restocking fee.
Yes, the SmartDesk Connect includes a complimentary (1) year warranty. Six (6) months warranty for workstation parts, and six (6) months warranty for labor.
Out-of-warranty replacements are available through our Support team. Just send a note to support@smartdesk.com and a team member will reach out to arrange a replacement.
Once you place an order, your workstation is shipped within 7-14 business days. Transit can take up to 9 days after your order ships, depending on the shipping method you select and your location relative to our NY distribution center.

The SmartDesk Connect is available in two different options to ensure we offer a wide range of compatibility with laptops. Most laptops work with the SmartDesk Connect, but you should consult our compatibility tool to determine the best option for your laptop.
There's a few ways you can do this, and one of the easiest would be to consult our compatibility tool. Additionally, you can determine compatibility by determining whether your laptop satisfies the following conditions:
  1. Does your laptop have an integrated or a dedicated graphics card?
    • Laptops without a dedicated graphics card work best with SmartDesk Connect E. The SDC-E allows slower systems to operate the SDC’s three 4K ultra HD monitors, but requires full Thunderbolt® 3 support including DMA. The SmartDesk Connect E has an external GPU that boasts a full AMD® Radeon RX 5500 XT to supplement the laptop.
    • Laptops with a dedicated graphics card or powerful SoC work best with SmartDesk Connect D. The SDC-D relies on DisplayLink® virtualization technology, allowing for significantly wider compatibility via a standard USB-C port. This option works best for mid to high-end Windows® (including select Microsoft Surface®) and Apple® laptops with full graphics cards or powerful SoCs (like the Apple® M1 or upcoming AMD® processors).
  2. Does your laptop have a USB-C port or comply with full Thunderbolt support?
    • The SDC-E requires full Thunderbolt® 3 support.
    • The SDC-D connects via a standard USB-C port
  3. Workflows and tech stack can heavily influence performance. Careful consideration of your workload should be taken when determining the best SDC option for you.
Yes, the SmartDesk Connect D works with Apple® M1 laptops. This option is not equipped with an eGPU, relying instead on DisplayLink virtualization hardware to provide compatibility for a wider range of USB outputs. The DisplayLink virtualization allows our system to overcome the M1 dual display limitation by emulating the system as a single display. This option works best for mid to high -end Windows® laptops (including select Microsoft Surface®) and mid to high-end Intel® and M1-based MacBook®.
Unfortunately, even though both protocols utilize the same USB-C connection, you cannot convert from USB-C to Thunderbolt® 3.
The SmartDesk doesn’t interfere with mouse/keyboard compatibility. We recommend pairing Bluetooth® devices to maintain a clean work surface, but exposed USB ports in the rear of the desk allow for wired connections as well.

Yes, the SmartDesk Connect is a functional standing workstation that has nearly everything an employee would need all built-in. The SmartDesk Connect’s unique all-in-one form factor allows a variety of configurations that are otherwise not possible with traditional cubicles or static sit-stand desks. You can do both! You can work at your SmartDesk in either a seated position or standing position with just the push of a button. Designed with the modern lifestyle in mind, the SmartDesk Connect gets you out of your chair without the interruptions of wires as you move your desk. With just the push of a button, the SDC’s dual motor adjustable desk sits or stands, giving you the option of banking in on standing desk benefits.
The dual leg motor system of the SmartDesk Connect extends from 23.7” to 49.3”.
No, the screens cannot be tilted. They were engineered for an immersive and ergonomic experience, so most people find them comfortable to use as arranged.
The lifespan of the built-in SmartDesk Connect display monitors depends on your usage. On average, an LCD monitor has a lifespan of 30,000-60,000 hours.
The SDC’s unique all-in-one design includes a mounting assembly that was designed to work with our specific monitor model type. They can only be switched with identical replacements.
Touchscreens were a feature of the first generation SmartDesk. The SmartDesk Connect does not have touchscreen capabilities.
