I spend 10+ hours a day working from my home office and having this desk has been a tremendous productivity booster; aside from the health benefits of not SITTING all day.
I previously owned the original SMART DESK (with built-in computer) before the pandemic forced me to work from home. I used that one primarily for home computing purposes - not for work. With the switch to full-time WFH, I needed a multi-monitor sit/stand option that would allow me to use my work laptop. Enter the SMART DESK CONNECT.
It replaces the built-in computer that the SMART CONNECT desk had with a built-in thunderbolt docking station and a laptop shelf under the desk (with "breathing' notches to keep the laptop from overheating).
The CONNECT desk requires assembly after delivery, but it took about 20 minutes and was ridiculously simple (all the necessary tools were provided). The directions (online video and supplementary installation guide) are extremely easy to follow.
I sprung for the casters ($20). This wasn't an option on the original SMART DESK, but it was worth it to add them as I can now easily rearrange my office by rolling the SMART DESK CONNECT around as needed.
My laptop supported the CONNECT D option (no eGPU), but be sure to verify compatibility with your laptop in order to buy the correct option (D or E).
You could go cheaper by getting a standard sit/stand desk and adding your own monitors, etc, but if you want a great quality desk with less mess (there's only one power cable for the whole setup), do yourself a favor and get the SMARTDESK CONNECT - it will save you a ton of effort and is a very clean setup. I love my SMART DESK CONNECT. I'm a customer for life!
