Why does ZOOM appear to lag on my SDC?
SmartDesk Connect relies on a modern dedicated GPU to provide adequate graphics acceleration for the 3x UHD monitors. Specific video conferencing software, such as ZOOM, are not optimized to work with dedicated GPUs and will result in a sub-standard user experience.
There are a few options to reduce the lag, such as:
- Enabling hardware acceleration
- Disabling HD video
- Disabling ZOOM backgrounds
- Reducing your display resolution from 4K (3840 x 2160) to HD (1920 x 1080P)
If the latency issues persist, we recommend using alternate video conferencing software such as Google Meets or Microsoft Teams until ZOOM addresses their video compression issues.
